Andries Gort 1931-2023
On March 17, 2023, former board member and co-founder of the Keep Food Simple Foundation, Andries Gort passed away at the age of 91.
Andries has been very meaningful to our organization from the start. His vision of the need to recalibrate food production, back to basics and the importance of high-quality raw materials became the core of KFS’s work.
In projects, particularly in the field of grains and bakery technology, he worked with inspiration and an eye for preserving the natural components in the raw materials. He achieved unprecedented results, mainly thanks to the rare combination of his scientific expertise with extensive knowledge of the practical aspects of food production.
Andries was not only an excellent technologist. His social gifts, his sound and honest personality have been of great significance in addition to his professional competence and experience. He always fulfilled completely any responsibilities that he took on. His friends and colleagues will remember this with great gratitude. Despite many physical setbacks, he continued wherever he could until the last years of his life. In appreciation of his work, Andries Gort was appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau on April 26, 2017.
